We’re still puttering along.
I’m trying out a Supybot with the nick R1G4 in channel for a bit. In a perfect world I’d have time and inclination to practice my mad perl skillz and write more scripts for R2D2, but after saying I would since Feb 2007, I realized I probbly wouldn’t get around to such a thing in the near future. So we’re using a packaged bot for the first time ever! Supybot is popular on the Freenode IRC Network and is a community developed python bot with all sorts of plugins. Currently it just spits a notice into channel with this, Time’s or my blog is updated. Want yours added? Nudge me in IRC. See any plugins you want enabled while browsing the Supybot website? Let me know.
Other news… the last entry talked about moving the site to tektonic hosting. This entry tells you about moving it to Linode! Linode is a bit more expensive, but has some additional resources and a TOS that allows me to IRC from the VPS - so here we are! I’ve had it for about 2 months and I’m really enjoying the sevice.
That’s all I’ve got.

Michael hooked me up with a spiffy VPS from tektonic and we are now hosted on more reliable server that the one we had at home, which was vulnerable to extended to power outages. Hurrah!

Time to update your clients. irc.xelium.net has changed to irc.psigenix.net
Why the change? Primarily the lack of control over the Xelium.net name. The fellow who owns the xelium.net domain has been off-line for quite some time and we have been unable to reach him for important DNS changes (there has been a dead server in the DNS pool for several months now). In addition, we never had the primary xelium.net name for our website or the ability to set up email accounts. With the psigenix.net name we do! We hope this will lead to a better, more prosperous network in general. Talks are in the works for other improvements to the network as well.
Check out shade’s page for more info about the switch for more information: PSIGenix Q&A
We’ll be overhauling the website and launching a new one within the next week or so.

Over the years #13thHour has bounced around the IRC bit of the internet and run into #deep13 a few times. Both channels started on SciFi and ended up on Xelium. Both channels had a lot of members that were into MST3K. The channels have shared members over the years, and a few of us are long-term members of both channels.
This weekend the owner of #deep13 announced he’s retiring the channel. I resigned from being the website admin, and it looks like the domain might be transferred to the MST3K folks themselves.
Perhaps this is for the best. #13thHour is more of an MST channel for me these days, we’re always blabbering about RiffTrax and such over there, as #deep13 gathers dust. My attempts to stir up Rifftrax interest in #deep13 have been unsuccessful. I’m extending an invite to people who don’t suck from #deep13 to come on over to #13thHour.
And so #13thHour chugs along as one of the last great SciFi IRC channels still in existence. For those of you keeping track, Time started the channel in the fall of 1998, making this upcoming fall our 9th anniversary. Can you believe it? I hardly can.
I guess mostly what this all means for us is that I’ll be using this site to post my MST-related news things on instead of #deep13’s website. People in #13thHour are interested in such things so it works out well

Well, I somehow managed to get myself in on the ground level of a planned open source cross-platform rpg named Anime Mayhem. Website: http://rpg.animemayhem.com/
(btw, I helped with the current colour theme on the site although the layout is still the same basic one as when I joined, I helped make it easier on the eyes. - more updates in the future, hopefully)
I know very little about programming or making games or whatnot. This’ll be a major learning experience. Let’s see where this leads, eh?
My current task is to help build the knowledge base.

Some of the delightful things we said on this day?
< @Azi> Woo! Zombie Jesus Day!
< @pleia2> Easter is about chocolate and zombies. I love Easter.
< @markgrif> lol zombie jebus ate the easter bunny!
< @DarkSol> My people killed the “Messiah”! YAY! :PP
< @Aquarius> Bush wants to change Easter.
< @Aquarius> He is a very sick man
Yeah, evangelicals need not apply.
In other news, which I believe is more important (as it doesn’t happen every year, or every other year *snicker*) Etch went stable today!

Madragoran posted this is channel a little while ago… it’s really disturbing:
http://wcco.com/topstories/local_story_088224059.html
(WCCO) “Minneapolis A Minneapolis city worker is worried about blood in the sewer system because he said, while he was cleaning the system, blood sprayed out of a hole and got all over him.
“We could tell it was blood, I mean large amount of blood,” said Minneapolis Sewer Maintenance Worker Ron Huebner.
It happened about two weeks ago in Northeast Minneapolis near a lab that does medical testing and dumps blood into the sewer. It is allowed but the city is now making changes to help protect workers in the future.
“Blood just all over my face, in my mouth, I could taste it. It was terrible. I had it in my mouth and I kept spitting and I couldn’t get rid of it,” said Huebner.”

I was in Baltimore on Sunday for a LinuxChix meeting and guess what I found?
An R2D2 mailbox!
I heard about the campaign about a month ago, but I still squealed like a little girl when I saw it
